MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Moscow has no information on the validity of Amnesty International’s claims of Russia’s Aerospace Forces in Syria that alleges Russia’s military used prohibited weaponry in the fight against terrorism in Syria, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Wednesday.
Earlier in the day, Amnesty International released a report suggesting Russia’s use of internationally prohibited cluster munitions in populated residential areas in Syria.
“We don’t have any information on the validity of the data that Amnesty International has claimed,” Peskov told journalists.
Peskov added that the Russian Defense Ministry and other arganizations were in the process of acquainting themselves with the report.
Since September 30, Russia has been carrying out airstrikes against Daesh (the Islamic State) militant group, having outlawed it, at the request of Syrian President Bashar Assad.
