Police officers in the Russian city of Tomsk have apprehended a man who managed to rob four stores while ‘armed’ with a Snickers bar.
According to a statement posted on the local prosecutor’s office official website, the perpetrator turned out to be a former convicted criminal who was recently released from prison. He apparently committed the robberies in order to pay for his trip home.
The perpetrator used a Snickers bar wrapped in a plastic bag "to create the appearance of a pistol" in order to intimidate his victims and force them to relinquish their valuables. Using this improvised weapon the criminal managed to rob a female passerby, a convenience store and three flower shops before being arrested by the authorities.
The robber was put on trial and sentenced to 6 years in prison.
