LONDON, March 5 (RIA Novosti) - The Moscow State University has been placed in the 50th position in top 100 universities, according to the World Reputation Rankings, and is the only Russian university in the list.

In 2011, the Russian university was ranked 33rd, however, a year later Russia did not enter the list at all. This year the Moscow State University shares the 50th place with the US Purdue University following the University of Sydney.

The ranking list was complied by the British Times newspaper with the support of Thompson Reuters information group basing on the level of universities’ education and research programs, scientific articles, number of foreign students and specialists and other criteria.

The top six universities in the list remained unchanged over the past three years and are Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of Cambridge, University of Oxford, University of California, Berkeley and Stanford University.
