Supporters of Egypt's former president Hosni Mubarak have denied a rumor that the ousted Egyptian leader experienced "clinical death" yesterday.

“It is a rumor, an unfounded rumor. Mubarak’s health is stable and he is out of danger,” according to the statement on the Facebook page “Forgive us, president.”

A source in the Egyptian security apparatus also denied the rumors.

Media reports on Sunday said Mubarak had suffered a severe heart attack. The reports cited information from employees at the International Medical Center, where Mubarak is a patient, who said there was activity near Mubarak’s room and doctors were overheard to say he was on the verge of death.

Mubarak stepped down on February 11 after anti-government protests that broke out in Cairo. In April Mubarak was admitted to a hospital in the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh. In August before facing the trial he was transferred to a military hospital in Cairo in which he is still being held.

Mubarak, 83, has been diagnosed with a number of serious ailments, including cancer.
