MOSCOW, December 27 (R-Sport) – Lokomotiv Yaroslavl has torn up the contract of former Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Sami Lepisto by mutual consent, the KHL team announced Thursday.

The Finn moved from Chicago to Russia in June signing a one-year agreement, and made 26 appearances for Tom Rowe's men.

“Lokomotiv has cancelled the contract of defenseman Sami Lepisto by mutual agreement,” a statement on the team’s website said.

No reasons were specified.

The 28 year old spent five seasons in the NHL, scoring 36 points in 186 appearances for four different teams.

Lokomotiv, whose entire roster was wiped out in the plane crash before the start of the last season, is second in the Western Conference with 26 wins from 37 games.
