MOSCOW, December 24 (R-Sport) – WBA super champion Wladimir Klitschko should put his titles on the line against regular champion Alexander Povetkin of Russia no later than February 24, the body announced Monday.
WBA vice-president Gilberto Mendoza ordered Klitschko to fight Povetkin after the Ukrainian beat Mariusz Wach on points last month.
Mendoza previously gave February 27 as the deadline for the Povetkin fight. There was no explanation for the discrepancy.
Povetkin's promoter Vladimir Hrunov claimed that the details of the bout would be unveiled this week.
The 33-year-old Povetkin, known as the Russian Vityaz, is unbeaten with 17 career knockouts in 25 fights, while Klitschko, 36, has a 59-3 record and last lost in 2004 against Lamon Brewster of the United States.
