MOSCOW, November 18 (R-Sport) – Pittsburgh Penguins star Evgeni Malkin scored two goals and provided an assist as his lockout team Metallurg Magnitogorsk beat Barys Astana 5-3 on the road Sunday.

They were Malkin's first points in the team's last three games after defeats in their last two.

After an exchange of goals early in the first period, Mikhail Rakhmanov put Barys ahead 2-1, but Malkin equalized three minutes before the first break while his teammate, Ottawa Senators defenseman Sergei Gonchar, was in the penalty box.

Barys' Canadian left wing Nigel Dawes put his team 3-2 up but the lead was short-lived as Sergei Mozyakin canceled it out.

Metallurg rallied forward late in the second period with goals by Victor Antipin, assisted by Malkin, and the man himself.

In the third period, Gonchar fouled New York Rangers defenseman Ryan McDonagh, but the first locked-out American in the KHL missed the penalty shot.

Metallurg is third in the East, two points behind leader Traktor Chelyabinsk, while Barys is outside the playoff zone in ninth.

Elsewhere, Avangard Omsk beat the league’s bottom team Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg 3-0 at home to secure a sixth win in seven games.

Dmitry Semin, Alexei Ivanov and Alexander Frolov scored in each of the periods to inflict a 11th consecutive defeat on Avtomobilist, while Avangard goaltender Eduard Reizvikh posted his second shutout of the season after playing only four games previously.

Avangard, last year's Gagarin Cup runner-up, is second in the East.

In another game Sunday, Yugra Khanty-Mansiysk stunned Traktor 2-1 at home via Marek Troncinsky, who scored the winning goal in overtime.

Despite an end to its four-game winning streak, Traktor retained the leader in the East, while Yugra sits in 10th with three successive wins.
