MOSCOW, November 14 (R-Sport) – Avangard Omsk defenseman Kirill Lyamin scored with 30 seconds of overtime remaining to edge his team past visiting Metallurg Magnitogorsk 3-2 in the KHL on Wednesday.

Lockout signings Sergei Kostitsyn and Nikita Nikitin both assisted for Lyamin’s game-winning goal in the first game after a two-week break in the schedules.

They each got a point in the second period as Kostitsyn scored on Nikitin’s assist when two of Metallurg’s players were in the penalty box.

Metallurg’s lockout signings Evgeni Malkin, Sergei Gonchar and Nikolai Kulemin were all given some ice time in the game, but ultimately failed to stamp their authority on it.

Last season’s Gagarin Cup runner-up Avangard remain second in the East, four points behind leader Traktor Chelyabinsk and on a five-game winning streak, while Metallurg is third.

Elsewhere, Traktor beat Barys Astana 6-3 on the road to keep the team from Kazakhstan outside the playoff zone in ninth.

In another game Wednesday, Toronto Maple Leafs left wing Joffrey Lupul debuted for Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg only to see his lockout team suffer a ninth consecutive defeat at the hands of Yugra Khanty-Mansiysk.

Yugra, playing at its home arena, overcame Avtomobilist on penalty shots 2-1, with Igor Skorokhodov scoring the winning penalty shot after equalizing in regulation.

Both teams are outside the playoff zone in the Eastern Conference, with Yugra in 10th and Avtomobilist in 12th.
