The Georgia Institute of Technology has launched an investigation into allegations that members of Phi Delta Theta insulted a black female by shouting racial slurs.
Dean of Students John Stein stressed that the university "does not condone discriminatory language or behavior and is taking this matter very seriously."
According to the statement, Georgia Tech's president and senior leadership have met with students to create a task force "on the African-American student experience."
Phi Delta Theta's national office has so far refused to comment the incident.
A similar incident also took place at the University of Oklahoma last March. That school was forced to shut down a fraternity after video surfaced of its members singing racially offensive songs. The university described the video as "disgraceful."
Later that same month, North Carolina State University expelled a fraternity over reports that a pledge book contained racially and sexually charged comments.
