Mikhail Fedotov, the head of the presidential council on human rights, will keep his post under President Vladimir Putin, business daily Kommersant reported on Monday.

Putin reappointed Fedotov as his advisor on Saturday.

“My reappointment as a president’s advisor stipulates that I will keep my post as head of the presidential human rights council,” the newspaper quoted Fedotov as saying.

Most of the current council members are also likely to maintain their posts, he added.

Putin returned to the Kremlin for a third presidential term on May 7, after serving four years as prime minister.

Shortly before his inauguration, a few members of the presidential council said they would leave their posts in the near future. They said they were planning to continue their work by forming a non-governmental organization to deal with anti-corruption and human rights issues.

Fedotov was appointed the council's head by then-President Dmitry Medvedev in October 2010.
