The “Imaginary Museum” is one of the three large exhibitions marking the Pushkin Museum’s 100th birthday. The exhibition features masterpieces from nearly all leading museums of the world.

The idea of the “Imaginary Museum” is that masterpieces that do not belong to the museum’s permanent collection will be displayed. The museum’s 19th and 20th Century European and American Art Gallery will feature Amedeo Modigliani’s “Nude” from the collection of the London Courtauld Gallery, “Adam and Eve” by Gustav Klimt from the Galerie Belvedere in Vienna, “The Key to the Fields,” photo, by René Magritte, and “Brown and Silver I” by Jackson Pollock from the Madrid collection of the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum.

The exposition of ancient civilizations featured the Gudea statue from the Louvre collection, and a marble statue of Isis and sculptural portrait of Emperor Caracalla made in the 2nd century AD. The works belong to the Archaeological department for Naples and Pompeii and are now items on the Ancient Art collection.
In all, 46 rare objects and paintings from the ancient world to modern day can be found in the museum’s main building and the European and American Art Gallery.
