MH17 Crash: West Hushed Up Risks of Ukraine Overflights - Australian Media
On July 17, 2014, Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 with 298 people on board crashed in Ukraine's eastern region of Donetsk, en route from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur. All persons on the plane were killed in the crash, including 196 Dutch citizens.

Kiev authorities blame eastern Ukraine militia, which they claim was provided with weapons by Russia, for the crash of the plane.

Last year, the Dutch Safety Board, responsible for the investigation into the crash, released a preliminary report on the crash, suggesting the plane broke up in mid-air after being hit by a number of high-energy external objects.
