MOSCOW (Sputnik) – A boat carrying about 100 undocumented migrants ran aground off the western coast of Malaysia on Thursday, local media reported.
The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) has already sent rescue teams to the scene, according to the local Berita Harian newspaper.
The MMEA said it has no information about whether there are any fatalities at the moment.
The Southeast Asia saw a migrant crisis in the summer, with thousands of people making perilous journeys to Malaysia, Indonesia and other counties in the region after Thailand launched an operation against human smugglers.
