MOSCOW, November 9 (RIA Novosti) — The new book written by former American President George W. Bush about his father George H.W. Bush will shed light on numerous aspects of US policy in the 1990s, as well as personal relations between the two American Presidents, the Washington Post reports.

According to the newspaper, the book “41: A Portrait of my Father” casts light on their relations, their political careers and family life; it narrates the story of political failures and family support, contains personal anecdotes and explains political decisions made during the Bush administration, such as the first war in Iraq.

George W. Bush discusses his father’s defeat to Bill Clinton in 1992 and reveals his unwillingness to run for a second term because of superfluous attention to son Neil Bush, who had been involved in a financial scandal.

“It killed him to see Neil singled out because he was the President’s son,” Bush writes.

Bush also avows respect for his father, whom he regarded as his main advisor and supporter.

“I never felt the need to ask Dad for a direct opinion on whether I should run. I knew he would support whatever choice I made,” Bush wrote in his book. “He had assured me that I should feel free to criticize any of his decisions with¬out fear of offending him.”

The book will be released on November 11, 2014. According to the Crown Publishing Group website, this is the first time when a story of an American president is narrated by his son, another American president, in such a personal and intimate way.
