Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Mehmet Simsek said Thursday that the European Parliament's non-binding resolution supporting a temporary halt of the EU’s accession talks with Turkey was populist, shortsighted and counterproductive.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — European lawmakers voted earlier on Thursday in favor of freezing European Union accession talks with Turkey until it lifts restrictive measures in place since the July failed coup.
