BRICS Summit Highlights Russia-India Strategic Partnership
GOA (India) (Sputnik) – The leaders of the BRICS member states are holding a restricted meeting within the framework of the eighth BRICS Summit in Goa, the Indian Foreign Ministry said Sunday.

"PM @narendramodi welcomes leaders at Restricted meeting, says BRICS nations have been a voice for peace, reform, reason & purposeful action," Vikas Swarup, the Indian Foreign Ministry spokesman, said in a post on the Twitter account.

Global economic situation and fighting international terrorism are expected to be on top of the agenda at the negotiations. The leaders are also expected to focus on the Syrian crisis.

The eighth annual BRICS event is taking place on October 15-16 in India’s Goa and is attended by all five leaders, who are set to discuss a plan for cooperation in the near future as well as a wide range of political, economic and security issues.
