Just imagine; terrible lines and the hassle of finding luggage at baggage claim will be soon replaced by an extra-fast service that will take passengers from Moscow to Piccadilly in just two and a half hours. Ziyavudin Magomedov, bearer of the Summa Group, told Financial Times about the prospects of high-speed travel between Moscow and London.

According to Magomedov, the highway built in accordance with Hyperloop technology can link the capitals of Russia and the United Kingdom in 15 years. In this case, the journey will take only two and a half hours.

“Russia has a certain problem with appraising and applying technologies. But I’m a big optimist nonetheless,” Magomedov stated in an interview.

The Hyperloop project is an extra-fast service which will move through a vacuum tube. The idea was proposed in 2012 by Elon Musk, an engineer and founder of the company SpaceX as well as Tesla Motors. It is expected that the innovation will be able to move twice as fast as an aircraft with minimum energy consumption.

As reported by the general director of Hyperloop One, Rob Lloyd, the company is looking into creating a super high-speed transport system in Russia, travelling to the Chinese Port of Zarubino, St. Petersburg and to airports in Moscow.

In 2017, Hyperloop will choose three leading projects to work on.

According to Business FM, Russian experts are skeptical about the idea developed by Elon Musk. Theoretically, the project can be implemented in real life. However, it is even impossible to imagine the cost of such technology, said the general director of Infra News agency Alexei Bezborodov.

“It is possible to construct a prototype as all composite materials and everything else is available for use. The only problem is that these materials will be the price of gold. To be honest, from a technological viewpoint I do not believe that the system will perfectly operate,” Bezborodov told Business FM.

As for Aleksey Zakharov, the independent transport expert, money is not the biggest problem.

“Money is simply a piece of paper, while everything is done by men power,” Zakharov told Business FM. “Complex technological and operational issues are not something that has not been yet solved, simply no one even started its development.”

“These kinds of high-tech systems require high level specialists, and we do not have them,” added Zakharov.

According to the independent transport expert, scientists already have examples of technologies and probably made calculations. But it is still not clear how this will work as it is difficult to ensure that the train will travel with high regularity.
