“The employers are violating their workers’ rights by taking advantage of the military situation in the east,” Pavlo Rozenko told the Kiev-based Channel 5 TV channel.
Rozenko said the current wage arrears now stood at a whopping 2 billion hryvnias.
Ukraine has long been teetering on the brink of a default with the national currency a whole three times and the state debt amounting to $68 billion, including around $40 billion owned to foreign lenders.
The London-based Daily Telegraph newspaper earlier warned that if the impasse over Ukraine’s mounting debt is not resolved the ordinary Ukrainians may find themselves four times poorer than they are now.
