A training base for the 2018 FIFA World Cup will be built in Roshchino, Leningrad Region, as reported by the regional government’s press service.

FIFA Confirms Full Support for Russia 2018 World Cup
ST. PETERSBURG (Sputnik) According to the acting governor of the Leningrad Region, Alexander Drozdenko, it’s an honor for the region to have one of the training bases in its area. “After the World Cup, Roshchino will have a modern sport facility, where we’ll hold various local and regional competitions,” he said.

In keeping with FIFA technical requirements, the training stadium will have natural grass and seat no fewer than 500. It will also have administrative offices, room for services, a conference hall and dressing rooms.

Architectural design of the training base will commence shortly, regional press service added.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup will be held from June 14 to July 15 at 12 stadiums in 11 Russian cities: Moscow, Kaliningrad, St. Petersburg, Volgograd, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara, Saransk, Rostov-on-Don, Sochi and Yekaterinburg. The FIFA Executive Committee recently approved a new resolution assuring Russia of its full support for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
