MOSCOW, November 1 (RIA Novosti) – Russian swimmers won three gold medals during the first day of the FINA World Cup in Singapore.
In the 100-meter freestyle final, Sergei Fesikov out-touched German swimmer Steffen Diebler by 0.11 split seconds, clocking in 47.02. Adam Barrett from Britain came in third (48.09).
Fesikov also excelled at the Men’s 100-meter Individual Medley, winning another gold medal (53.81), while Britain’s Liam Tancock finished second (53.95) and Spain’s Miguel Ortiz took home the bronze (54.53).
Russia ended the day on a high note by winning the 4 x 50 meter Mixed Medley. Maria Astashkina, Alexander Krasnykh, Elizaveta Bazarova and unstoppable Sergei Fesikov won Russia’s third gold medal with 1:43.26. The Americans finished second with 1:46.03 and the Singaporean team came in third (1:46.17).
