Jose Mourinho has brushed off suggestions that defeat to CSKA Moscow on Wednesday would spell the end of his Real Madrid career.

Real drew the first leg 1-1, and there has been speculation in the Spanish media that Mourinho may be fired if the Spanish league leaders do not reach the Champions League quarter-finals.

“My future won't be decided by Wednesday's result,” he said.

Nonetheless, Real would be careful to avoid complacency, he said.

“Nothing is clear yet because 1-1 in Moscow doesn’t guarantee us an easy life,” he said. “Either team can win, so we are approaching tomorrow’s match with caution.”

Mourinho dismissed the assertion of CSKA Moscow coach Leonid Slutsky that it would take a "miracle" for the Russians to progress.

“In football there are no miracles, just unexpected events. That CSKA go through, that either CSKA play well, or Real very badly, but I think that we will win.”

CSKA avoided defeat in Moscow when Pontus Wernbloom scored with a volley with the last kick of the game after Cristiano Ronaldo had scored the opener.

Real Madrid lead the Spanish league by ten points from Barcelona, while CSKA are second in the Russian Premier League, six points behind leaders Zenit St. Petersburg.
