Russia and France plan to set up a pre-trial commission to sort out custody arguments over children born into Russian-French families, the Kremlin chief of staff said on Tuesday.

Russia and France plan to set up a pre-trial commission to sort out custody arguments over children born into Russian-French families, the Kremlin chief of staff said on Tuesday.

Sergei Naryshkin made his statement after talks with French President chief of staff Claude Gueant in Paris.

"We have discussed the issue of the rights of children born into mixed families," Naryshkin said. "Both countries realize that a mechanism for sorting out such arguments should be developed."

He said an official agreement is currently in preparation.

"Until the agreement is ready, it has been suggested that... a consultative commission that could sort out such arguments before trial be set up," he said.
