UNEMPLOYMENT WORST OF RUSSIA'S SOCIAL ILLS, PROVE FIGURES

MOSCOW, April 21 (RIA Novosti) - 5,996,000 Russians were out of job last month-7.4 per cent below March 2004 and 5.5 per cent below February last, reports the Federal State Statistical Service, or Rosstat.

1,997,000 unemployed were officially registered, March-20.2 per cent more than in March 2004, and 1.1 per cent below last February.

The Rosstat estimates the able-bodied population at 72.5 million-51 per cent of total population. A majority of employed persons concentrate in large and medium-rank companies. 8.3 per cent of the able-bodied population were qualified as unemployed on International Labor Organization standards.

Real disposable public money incomes-revenues minus compulsory payments corrected against the consumer price index-for last March came 12.5 per cent up against March 2004, and 1.8 per cent against February 2005.

Public real incomes increased in the first quarter-year by 3.1 per cent against January-March 2004, but plummeted by 18.7 per cent against the fourth quarter-year 2004.

The Rosstat estimated average monthly per capita money incomes for March at 7,326.6 rubles (R27.72/$1 is the Central bank rate for today)-26.1 per cent more than in March 2004, and 11.8 per cent above February last. An increase for the initial quarter-year against the same, 2004, made 16.1 per cent.

Average imputed monthly wages made 7,850 rubles last month, on preliminary estimations-21 per cent up against March 2004.
