LIVE UPDATES: Iranian President's Helicopter Crashes in East Azerbaijan Province

According to media reports, rescuers are trying to reach the aircraft, but the situation has been complicated by heavy fog and poor terrain.
The location of the helicopter that made a hard landing with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi on board has been determined, with search and rescue teams heading there, Iranian news agency Press TV reported.
Earlier on Sunday, Raisi arrived in the province to join his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev to take part in the commissioning ceremony of the Khudaferin hydroelectric complex and the opening of the Giz Galasy hydroelectric complex, both on the Araz River.

Exact Location of Iranian President Raisi's Helicopter Established
The exact location of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi's helicopter has been established through a signal from one of the crew members, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said on Sunday.
Earlier in the day, Iranian media reported that a helicopter carrying Raisi, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian and their companions had suffered an accident in northwestern Iran. Iranian Interior Minister Ahmad Vahidi later confirmed the accident. Rescue teams have arrived at the scene, but the search operation is complicated by tough weather conditions, reports said.
"A few minutes ago, a signal was received from the scene from a helicopter and the phone of one of the crew members," the IRGC commander in the East Azerbaijan province said, as quoted by Iranian news agency Tasnim.
The commander noted that the military is heading to the scene right now and hopes to receive "good news."

Russia will send two planes, a helicopter, and 50 rescuers to help search for the helicopter carrying Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi that made a hard landing in Iran's northwest, the Tasnim news agency reported, quoting Russian Adviser to the President and Special Presidential Representative for International Cooperation in Transport Igor Levitin.
"On instructions from [Russian President] Vladimir Putin, two advanced aircraft, a helicopter and 50 professional mountain rescuers will be sent to the city of Tabriz within an hour," Levitin said during a conversation with Iranian Vice President Mohammad Mokhber.

How Countries Reacted to Crash of the Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi's Helicopter:
Russia is ready to provide all necessary assistance in the search for the missing helicopter carrying Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.
"Turkiye is in close coordination with Iran and is ready to provide any assistance in the search for Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi's helicopter," Turkish President Erdogan stated.
"We are very concerned about the news that the Iranian President's helicopter has made an emergency landing and we are ready to provide all assistance in this regard," Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said.
"We are looking forward to good news. We pray and wish health to the honourable President and all the people of Iran," Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahbaz Sharif said.
"I deeply regret the reports of the crash of the Iranian President's helicopter. We express our solidarity with the people of Iran in these difficult times and pray for the President and his delegation," Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said.
Saudi Arabia's foreign ministry said it was following the news with concern and stood by its sister country, the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The foreign ministries of Qatar and Armenia said the countries are ready to provide all necessary support to the situation of the Iranian president's helicopter.
Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid has expressed great concern over the crash of the helicopter of the Iranian president and his satellites.
"The leadership and people of Yemen support the people of Iran and its leadership in their difficult situation. We ask God to bring back Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi and his comrades safely," said Mehdi Al-Mashat, head of Yemen's Supreme Political Council.

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian has also been on board President Ebrahim Raisi's helicopter that suffered an accident in the country's northwest, Iranian news agency Tasnim reported on Sunday.
The Iranian president's convoy included a total of three helicopters, the news agency reported. Iranian Energy Minister Ali Akbar Mehrabian and Minister of Roads and Urban Development Mehrdad Bazrpash were on board one of the two other helicopters that safely reached their destination, Press TV reported.

Iranian Interior Minister Ahmad Vahidi confirmed the crash of the helicopter carrying the country's President Ebrahim Raisi.

"The president and his companions were returning in several helicopters. One of the helicopters made a hard landing due to weather conditions," Vahidi said on state TV.

The minister noted that “the situation is under control.”
